Most commonly, the birds we deal with are starlings and woodpeckers. Starlings are black with a glossy or iridescent sheen that may add brown, green, or purple to their plumage, as well as telltale white speckles and a bright yellow beak. Their less admirable telltale is their noise and mess, often making nests within attic, heating, and dryer vents. Woodpeckers are more varied, but can of course be identified by their loud, insistent pecking when they search for food, try to build a home, or attract mates.

1. Inspection
We’ll talk with you and inspect your home to confirm areas where birds are roosting, entering, or just perching and being active in the case of woodpeckers. We’ll do our best to confirm that the species is one that can be legally removed (a species classified as invasive such as starlings), what the best method of exclusion is, and how we can deter or discourage nuisance birds from your home moving forward.
2. nest removal/deterrence/exclusion
Assuming the species is unprotected, we can remove all accessible nests and eggs from the premises, including attic spaces. We then install a bird-proof vent cover to ensure they don’t return. In the case of woodpeckers, we may apply a capsaicin or texture based deterrent gel, intimidator (a flashy device similar to a windcatcher or pinwheel that is visually off-putting to the bird), or optical gel discs (a more involved but less visible installation that has the same effect as the intimidator).
3. follow up
We’ll request that you follow up with us after installation if you see any more birds causing issues on your property, or if it’s time to change the approach we used for the initial service.
